Have you ever come up with a really good riff on your guitar and wished you had someone to lay down some cool backing tracks for your guitar work? Or wanted some original backing tracks to add your guitar tracks to?

Today, I came across a wonderful online music collaboration community at Kompoz.com

This site allows you to create and collaborate on songs with other musicians worldwide, and costs nothing to join or use.  There is however, a private option for songs when you want to create a piece that is private to just people you chose for a project that costs around 10 bucks.  This option does give you a traditional copyright for your finished song though, so that is not bad at all.

What is really exciting to me is that you can find songs to add your tracks to and audition for the part to be added, and you can also do your own thing and get others to add their talent to it.

There is also a very active forum and a cool profile section to promote your work,  you can even post your performance vids there.

Check out this getting started video to find out what it is all about:

This looks like an invaluable tool to woodshed guitarists like myself.  And some of the stuff I have heard there is totaly mind blowing.

Just go over there and check it out at www.kompoz.com

(It was hard for me to leave form over there and come back here to tell you all about it…:))

Don’t be shy, leave a comment…

UPDATE – THIS IS TO COOL

They let you embed your tracks on your website like this:

And also give you download links so that you can download the tracks to work on them or share them or just have them on your site to download like this: http://s3.amazonaws.com/1K6M3Y5WPCNJ6M657A02.kompoz.p/p15579-20100127-183652.mp3

(Not a bad jam track either after you get past the silly first part…)
