Looking through all the online electric guitar lessons for beginning guitarists, I found some really good ones for beginners wanting to learn electric guitar. The music courses that come up at the top of the list are GuitarTricks.com, JamPlay.com, Jamorama, Hal Leonard Guitar Method online, Berklee Music online, and Next Level Guitar, and UltimateGuitar.com.
These are the “top tier” online guitar courses:
GuitarTricks.com has to be one of the most popular sites to offer online guitar courses. They are also innovators and originators when it comes down to online musical learning.
In other words, guitartricks.com has been around awhile, and has made a name for themselves in the internet guitar lesson arena.
They do not offer individual courses, but instead have a monthly subscription model (that happens to work really well if you have some spare time on your hands
) This allows you to learn at your own pace while having access to their entire lesson library.
Their catalog of lessons for guitar are taught by a whole range of talented guitar instructors. These include everything from beginner guitarist exercises to complicated finger style picking, blues guitar improvisation, and heavy metal shredding. From “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star” to “Crazy Train” you should be all set, and with 24 free guitar lessons to sample, you really cant go wrong.
Next Level Guitar has to be one of the most user friendly guitar lesson sites out there. It is a more “home grown” type of setup that the two creators promote on Youtube.
They have tons of free lessons posted on youtube, and all their lessons can be bought individually, so you don’t pay for anything you don’t want.
They are also very entertaining, which definitely helps when trying to learn anything, especially like playing guitar. Check out some of their free lessons and see what they are all about…
JamPlay.com is another up and coming site that offers a lot of great guitar lessons online. They also use the subscription based model, so that you have access to all the lessons instead of paying for each individual lesson.
This site is update frequently with new acoustic guitar lessons, as well as blues guitar lessons, jazz, fusion, funk, metal and country guitar lessons.
They also have a nice selection of free lessons for guitar, so you can give them a try.
Jamorama is by far one of the most popular courses for beginning guitarist. It is a total course designed specifically to take a beginner all the way to advanced guitar playing techniques in a relatively short time.
Jamorama provides the step by step basics which build a good foundation for playing your instrument, and it has lifetime membership for a one time fee.
If your are just getting started and need some free sample lessons, this just might be the one for you…
If you want to go a more traditional route of learning to play guitar, Hal Leonard is the tried and true source of top notch guitar lesson books and guitar lesson DVD’s.
You can get them direct from the source here, and browse all that are available without having to take a trip to your local music store, ( usually to find Tabulature books from the 1980′s lol..)
www.berkleemusic.com
For many years, The Berklee College of Music has been the top training destination for aspiring guitarists as well as other types of pop musicians.
They offer not only music lessons, but also performance and music production certification.
This is also where many famous guitar players choose to teach their methods. Where else can you learn from successful rock, blues, metal, and country guitarists?
If you are looking to take your musicianship to a whole new level, this might be for you…
www.ultimate-guitar.com
Ultimate Guitar.com is one of the biggest places for sharing tabs, lessons, and all things guitar related. This is a user driven community that works ad revenue instead of charging for content.
All the lessons are free, but they are user generated so it can be difficult to find exactly what you need, or an ordered course. If you are a true do it your self type, the quantity of material on this site is huge. (Just sifting through it is kinda time consuming
)
All that being said, there are many other places to find guitar lessons, these just seem to be the most trusted sources of online electric and acoustic guitar lessons for beginners.
Dont be shy, leave a comment…
