5 String Bass Guitars Prices:

I love finding a really cheap 5 string bass guitar on sale and hate to turn down a good deal on a nice sounding instrument that doesn’t set me back a lot.

Over the last few years, I have found several places to get a cheap bass guitar at sale prices. Some have become regular favorites, others have sometimes been used as mods or stripped for replacement parts..

Lets just say that it’s awesome to find something that you aren’t embarrassed to play in front of your friends, yet at the same time you don’t feel like cussing every time you get a little nick or ding in the finish…

I like looking through sites like RondoMusic.com to find decent quality 5 string basses.

Also like browsing sites like Musicians friend.com because you can find a lot of good deals on returned and 5 string bass guitar close outs. (They actually tell you if there is any clearance or specials when looking at any item they have, which is a nice feature they have on their site…)

Craigslist is sometimes a good place to find cheap bass guitars for sale by local people selling their used bass guitars, and although it is up to you to get a bargain when talking to a seller, you can actually come out with some fantastic bargains on some nice musical instruments. I have also met some cool people that way, fellow guitarists and such…

One of the best ways I have found cheap bass guitars for sale and other bass gear like amps and effects pedals is to find and look thru clearance sections from my favorite 5 string bass guitar dealers.

There are several places to find cheap bass guitars on sale:

Discontinued bass Guitars:

These are the ends of production runs that have only small numbers left, and therefore not really worth taking up a lot of advertising space or warehouse or showroom space. A lot of the time these bass guitars are not actually discontinued, but change their appearance or packaging slightly.

B-Stock Bass Guitars:

Factory second quality guitars. These usually have small cosmetic flaws like finish runs, small chips or scratches, etc. These make excellent project and mod guitars. They just need a little caring for..

Customer Returns and Damages:

These are guitars that have been sold but returned due to some obvious damage or defect. These you have to be a little more diligent about, but are great for finding replacement parts. (There’s nothing wrong finding a guitar with a broke neck for $100 that the pickups, switches, and hardware like tuners, bridge, and controls cold easily be worth twice that… )

Bass Guitar Overstocks:

These are less common but still happen from time to time, some guitar company will release a real dud, or really overproduce some model, and they need to reduce their inventory to make room for more in demand bass guitar models… (Great way of finding some strange colored or shaped basses sometimes…)

Factory Refurbished Bass Guitars:

These are bass guitars that have been recalled at some point due to a common defect (or stopped from initially shipping) and the defect then fixed or repaired at the factory. These are usually great bargains when you can find them…

I generally like finding these locally, because it is better to inspect the condition…
